Introducing the PHP probe file
A small on-server file that reports the real PHP version when hosts hide it from remote checks.
Remote PHP checks are useful, but some hosts strip or hide version headers. When that happens a scan cannot tell whether a site is supported, security-only, or past end of life.
The probe file fixes that. Upload a small PHP script to the server and UpdatePHP can read the real version securely. Profiles control which checks run. See the probe file guide for upload steps and what the probe returns.
The probe underpins portfolio workflows in Site Manager — especially for agencies that need reliable version data across many hosts. More on that in Introducing Site Manager.
